Great news for another Syrian Refugee

We’ve got another great, positive story from our Syrian Refugee Resettlement Scheme. Our Service User, T, arrived in the UK March 2018 with her husband and two children. They settled well into Ipswich making friends with others in the community, attending ESOL classes (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and engaging with the local church.

Unfortunately, T and her husband separated at the end of 2019 and ACT was able to move quickly in securing alternative accommodation for T. Due to concerns around T’s Mental Health and safety, ACT supported her to engage with Social Care Services and Domestic Abuse Support. As a result of this, T was soon able to again have overnight contact with her children who resided with her during the weekends.

T was supported by ACT’s specialist ‘move-on’ Officer to register and bid for Social Housing and was recently invited to view a property. T accepted this property immediately and while there have been some delays while a new bathroom and kitchen were refurbished over the festive period, T will be collecting the keys to her new home next week.

We hope T will be very happy in her new home and this would not have been possible without the support she received from Elizabeth, Lavita and Maurice over the past two and a bit years. Thank you team.
