#Studentvolunteering week – a perfect example
She was studying Criminology and wanted to gain some experience in the field – she did some training with ACT and became a volunteer appropriated adult; during her time with us, she also volunteered with our housing team and as a mentor.
After leaving university, Laura beat 147 other people to become a senior prison officer where she worked for 2 years.
Laura’s now a lecturer in Criminology and Psychology at University of Suffolk and we’re pleased to say that she’s also back volunteering with us… a great example of the benefit of adding some volunteering to your CV and also shows how volunteering is not just about the training, the experience, and the benefits to our service users, it’s also enjoyable – our volunteers tell us that they get a great sense of self-satisfaction and pleasure from helping the most vulnerable people in our community.
