Universal Studios add to our Empowerment Fund

We’re delighted that oscar-winning director Danny Boyle has donated to our empowerment fund!

Danny Boyle and Richard Curtis are making a new film in Suffolk and Working Title Films, owned by Universal Studios have made a substantial donation to our empowerment fund. Asked for recommendations of local charities, Comic Relief kindly nominated ACT as a recipient of a donation and we’re delighted.

Our empowerment fund is important as it is used for ad hoc expenses for our service users. Applications can be made to the fund for such things as furnishings and appliances to help re-housed refugees or victims who have fled domestic abuse; service users who need transport costs to get to a counselling session; clothing for unemployed service users to attend job interviews. Funds donated to ACT go into our empowerment fund.

Filming of the new movie has been taking place in and around Suffolk and rumours have it that Ed Sheeran will have a role. Working Title Films have been giving away tickets for people wanting to appear as extras at a concert being filmed on Gorleston Beach – click here for more details. The film is believed to be set in the 1960s and is based on the idea that the Beatles never existed… sounds interesting!

Our thanks go to Universal Studios – both for their generous donation and also for recognising Suffolk as the fantastic county that it is – perfect for the big screen!
